Reece Frye (Gr. 9) and Emil Schnabel (Gr. 8), both in the WP U-15 team, played in the Western Cape School’s Tournament during the weekend of 13 May. Emil came first and Reece fourth.
It is a tremendous honour to have two players from one school under the top-6 players in the tournament.
Both Reece and Emil have been invited to play for South Africa in the Commonwealth Chess Championship in India during the July holiday.
This invitation follows their achievement in the South African Junior Closed Chess Championships that took place during the April holidays. (Reece came 4th in the
U-15 section and Emil 6th in the U-14 section).
We are very proud of these two young men. We know that it is equal amounts of talent and hard work that contribute to their successes.
